Karen Weissert PhotoMs. Weissert joined the MSU Division of Public Health in 2014 as an advisor after several years as coordinator of Academic Support Services at Baker College of Flint. There she supervised a team of both general and program advisors along with academic counselors. Ms. Weissert developed materials for supplemental instruction and created both video and face-to-face training modules for faculty and staff. She also served as a member of the Academic Quality Improvement Program.  

Prior to that, at the University of Michigan-Flint, Ms. Weissert was an adjunct instructor, teaching Introduction to Health Careers within the School of Health Professions & Studies.  She also coordinated the program Building Careers in Health Care, which she developed and implemented with student-participants from the Genesee Area Skill Center.  Ms. Weissert also served as a liaison between the university, the Skill Center, and the greater community.  

During her graduate program in Social Work at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, Ms. Weissert was a graduate student instructor, teaching Perspectives on Health and Health Care 1 and 2.  

Ms. Weissert is responsible for advising students pursing the Master of Public Health (MPH) as well as MPH students dually enrolled in the following programs: Medical Doctor, Doctor of Osteopathy, and Master of Social Work.
