Future Plans: Michael is excited to start his career with the Oakland County Health Division in the Environmental Health Department as a Health Sanitarian on the Land and Water team. As a Health Sanitarian, he currently regulates and monitors water supplies and waste management within the county.  He plans to expand his knowledge of environmental health and continue to grow as a professional in the health field.

Future Plans: Sarah plans to use her MPH degree to work for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.

Future Plans: April has accepted a job offer with Advance Michigan Physician Organization as a Quality Analyst. She will be measuring and monitoring performance to evaluate the effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of personal and population-based health services. She will also help implement strategies for continuous quality improvement to achieve quality care for patients within Southeast Michigan.

 

 Scott Evans

Future Plans: During his final semester with the MSU MPH program, Scott was offered a job as a sanitarian working with a local health department. Presently, the position uses much of the education he gained through the MPH program and offers specialized training that will build his expertise further. Eventually he intends to become more involved in policy management of public health programs at either the state, or perhaps even national, level, with the possibility of pursuing a doctorate degree in public health as well. Scott believes the MPH program has opened up many opportunities for him.

Future Plans: Breanne will be beginning her public health career in January as Population Health Coordinator for the Mount Rogers Health District in southwest Virginia.

Future Plans: After graduation, Leah plans to move to a full-time public health career with the possibility of pursuing a doctorate in public health in the future. She feels confident the skills she has gained from MSU's MPH program will help her to suceed in her future career.  She currently works part-time for a grant-funded substance-misuse prevention organization and will continue to work for this company while she searches for a full-time position. She has gained much public health experience through her current job and looks forward to progressing with the skills she has developed. Leah has a strong passion for working to improve the health and wellness of communities and hopes to find a career to pursue this passion.

State Authorization: Distance Education Restrictions Based on Permanent Residence

Michigan State University is obligated to comply with existing state laws regarding distance education (programs/departments offering courses delivered exclusively online). State laws regarding distance education vary state-by-state, and even program-by-program within a state. The Master of Public Health offered through the College of Human Medicine’s Division of Public Health at Michigan State University requires a practicum experience that constitutes a physical presence in some states, therefore restricting enrollment in our program to residents of those states.
