Future Plans: Kelly intends to remain working for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center as an infection preventionist upon graduation, and she looks forward to using her MPH to become more involved in research and preventing hospital infections. Her practicum project involved investigating if patient-reported antibiotic allergies have an impact on the antibiotics that are prescribed and if this results in an increased risk of acquiring a C. difficile infection. This project has gained the attention of the quality improvement department at the medical center. They intend to use the research as part of a prediction model to create an algorithm that may identify oncology patients that are the most at risk of acquiring C. difficile infections.
