Biography:

Connie Currier PhotoPublicHealth Focus/Interests:

Dr. Currier coordinates international practicum experiences for Master of Public Health students and co-leads a study abroad program in Ghana. As a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana, she collaborated with community and government officials to establish rural health clinics. She has been a global health consultant for John Snow, Inc., Project Hope, the Carnegie Corporation, the Canadian International Development Agency, and other organizations, and has worked in Brazil, Ethiopia, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mexico, Zimbabwe and Ghana. Dr. Currier holds leadership roles in local non-governmental organizations including the Sugar Smart Coalition and the Lansing Latino Health Alliance, and has helped organize a number of events including H1N1 vaccination clinics, local health fairs, and Outstanding Caregiver Awards for Latinos in the Lansing area. She has developed and teaches many Master of Public Health courses. 

Dr. Currier is interested in cultural competence, pedagogical approaches to incorporating social justice and community engagement into public health education, and strategies to improve online teaching and learning.
