Public Health Focus/Interests:
Dr. Uphold joined MSU in 2018. Her work centers on improving the translation of evidence-based practices to non-academic audiences specifically through the use of trusted and credible messengers. She has roughly 20 years of experience in a myriad of roles in research and community-based organization settings. Prior to beginning her career in research with Wayne State University, she worked for various nonprofit organizations and school systems in the Flint, Michigan area. This provided her with a keen understanding of the challenges faced by community organizations particularly those in under-resourced communities.
